EXPSKILLS-REM Project Description

EXPSKILLS-REM offers a blended lifelong learning course on Rare Earth (RE) Magnets and Motors. Geared towards professionals in the RE industry, it provides both theoretical and practical training, focusing on the life cycle of RE magnets. Aimed at engineers, consultants, managers, technicians, and innovators, the course covers the entire value chain of permanent magnets, emphasizing recycling and motor applications Raw Materials, Technological Magnets, Circular Economy and Electromobility. By educating specialists in these fields, ExpSkills-REM aims to bolster Europe’s RE supply chain resilience. (Funded by the EIT RawMaterials under the Grant Agreement 21104).

MONOLITHOS participation role

MONOLITHOS is responsible for developing Module 4, “Recycling of RE permanent magnets,” focusing on creating an independent teaching module. This module focuses on providing participants with an in-depth understanding of current rare-earth (mainly Dy, Co, Nd) permanent magnet recycling practices. The module aims to educate participants on updated content while empowering them to effectively engage with recycling technologies. Ultimately, the goal is to enable participants to implement these methods in their companies. Furthermore, within this module, MONOLITHOS will showcase its innovative hydrometallurgical recycling method designed to recover Rare Earth Elements (REEs) from End of Life (EoL) permanent magnets. This demonstration will offer participants insights into a cutting-edge recycling technique, highlighting sustainable methods for recovering REEs.
