PROJECTS

DIAGONAL Project Description

DIAGONAL aims to expand the knowledge on the physicochemical, hazard and exposure characteristics of multicomponent nanomaterials (MCNMs) and High Aspect Ratio Nanoparticles (HARNs). Thus, the project relies on experimental and modelling research to understand and ultimately predict interactions among the nanomaterial components and their transformation products with the environment during their life cycles, promoting a better understanding of potential adverse effects on human health and biota. DIAGONAL’s aim is the development and scaled Implementation of safe by design tools and guidelines for MCNMs/HARNs which allow to keep the desired functionality and quality.

MONOLITHOS participation role

MONOLITHOS, as an SME company with experience in the production of both Nanomaterials (polymetallic nanocatalytic powders for automotive applications) and Nano-enabled products (automotive catalytic converters for the transformation of toxic gases), participates in the DIAGONAL project as an industrial demonstrator, providing material samples for characterization studies. MONOLITHOS will apply/validate the computational tools and SbD strategies that will be developed during the project, aiming at safe innovations in the automotive sector.
