HYDROCAT Project Description

HYDROCAT aims to research and develop a hydrometallurgical system for recycling secondary raw materials and recovering Platinum Group Metals (PGMs) and Gold (Au). The Spent Automotive Catalytic Converters and mining tailings are evaluated as secondary sources.

MONOLITHOS participation role

MONOLITHOS develops and optimizes a single-step hydrometallurgical leaching process using a low concentration of reagents and a high solid-to-liquid ratio to efficiently recover the PGMs and Au from spent automotive catalysts and tailings. The leaching process is upscaled in MONOLITHOS’ premises for processing 10 kg batches of secondary sources.
