PEACOC Project Description
PEACOC is designed to provide sustainable and responsible industrial solutions by valorizing secondary waste resources in Europe for the manufacture of new end-products. The PEACOC technologies are expected to be economically and environmentally viable and first-of-its-kind across Europe. In the project, a pilot unit will be demonstrated using a hydrometallurgical process to efficiently recover Precious Metals from spent automotive catalysts, printed circuit board assembly and End-of-Life photovoltaic.
MONOLITHOS participation role
MONOLITHOS will enhance its technological capacity and commercial activities, PGMs recycling and autocatalysts manufacturing by the results of PEACOC. Specifically, MONOLITHOS will be responsible for collecting and pretreatment of the spent catalysts provided to project partners and the pilot unit. Specifically, MONOLITHOS will install the PEACOC technologies on its premises to develop and demonstrate a pilot unit on a pre-commercial scale for the complete recycling process of secondary sources, such as spent automotive catalysts, Printed Circuit Board Assembly and End-of-Life Photovoltaic. Besides, MONOLITHOS is responsible for manufacturing marketable autocatalysts using recovered PGMs for different light and heavy-duty vehicles requiring different performances with target performances similar to those produced with virgin materials. At the same time, MONOLITHOS will validate the performance of recovered PGMs as electrocatalysts in electrochemical energy technologies, such as hydrogen fuel cells.
